Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the 37th National Games on October 26th at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, South Goa. This prestigious event will mark the first time Goa hosts the National Games, featuring athletes from 28 states participating in over 43 different sports disciplines.
Over 10,000 athletes will take part in the event, with nearly 49 percent of them being women. The Games, scheduled to run from October 26th to November 9th, will showcase unique sports like Kho, yogasana, and mallakhamb for the first time.
Joining Prime Minister Modi for the inauguration are Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur, Goa Sports Minister Govind Gaude, and Minister of State for Tourism Shripad Naik. This edition of the National Games will introduce various sports, including beach football, roll ball, golf, sepak takraw, sqay martial arts, kalliya rapattu, and pencak silat. Cycling and Golf events will be conducted in New Delhi, while Taekwondo and yachting games are making their comeback after a year's absence.
